At our first congregational meeting on Sunday, August, 29, 2010, the newly installed members voted by majority for all elder and deacon candidates. Rev. James Carter was chosen as Senior Pastor with a vote of 97%. NPC’s first anniversary celebration will be on Sunday, September 26. Rev. Jim Carter will be our preacher. The worship service will be followed by a luncheon and a farewell concert by soloist Philip Alongi.
High School Sunday School classes will resume on Sunday September 19 with the series, The Truth Project. Plan on joining us for this great study where we’ll be looking at life from a biblical perspective.
The Youth Choir (Grades 8-12) will have their first meeting on Sunday, September 12 at 4:30 p.m. in the Church Ministry Center, 1450 SW 3rd Street, Pompano Beach. We will begin with a Make-Your-Own-Sundae and a special surprise! Come and bring your friends! The Choir will be directed by John and Lisa Wilson.
The Children’s Choir (Grades 3-7) will have their first meeting on Sunday, September 12 at 8:45 a.m. in the Band Room at Pompano Beach High School. There will be a special treat for everyone and lots of singing praises! The Choir will be directed by John Wilson, Lisa Wilson and Allison DeMarco.
Food Pantry: NPC continues its partnership with The Pantry of Broward. On the 2nd Sunday of each month, please pickup a bag and a flyer, at the rear of the sanctuary. Bring it back to the lobby area on the 3rd Sunday, with goods described in the flyer. New Presbyterian Church Seniors (55+) will have their first meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Ministry Center. The devotion will be given by Dr. Synesio Lyra. Phil Alongi who will sing and give his testimony. A survey will be distributed to name the Seniors Group. Lunch is a $6 pecan crusted chicken, scalloped potatoes, tossed salad and dessert. Reservations are required today in the bulletin registration section or by calling the Ministry Center by Tuesday, September 7.
Youth Christian Worldview Leadership Study, will be held at the Ministry Center beginning Wednesday, September 8 at 6:00 p.m. The 12 week class is for high school and college students. This study is designed to build confidence in the reality of a biblical worldview. Each student attending will use the Thinking Like a Christian: Understanding and Living a Biblical Worldview Student Journal by Dr. David Noebel and Chuck Edwards. The journal will have to be pre-ordered and paid for through Brittney Deoliveira ASAP. Please contact Brittney at 954.658.0235 to register.
The NPC Youth would like to invite everyone to the dedication of “The Faucet” the youth room at the Ministry Center on Sunday September 19, 2010 at 4 p.m. After much hard work by all of our teens, including a mural by Katie Meyer, the room has been completed. Please join us for cake and punch as we dedicate “The Faucet” - a place to be filled with Christ’s love and teachings, equipping our youth to reach others.

Guillermo DeGiovanna is with Evangelism Explosion International as Regional Director for EE in the Southern Cone of South America: Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. He personally serves in a little church in a town of 8,000 people. His goals are to equip 100 churches in Argentina, 50 in Chile, 20 in Paraguay and 20 in Uruguay in Kid’s EE over the next 3 years.
Dr. John Barber is pastor of the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Palm Beach Gardens. He is with Equipping Pastors International. He will be helping to start the Reformed Theological Seminary of Nairobi. John is presently teaching classes and involved in administration, discipling young pastors. He will be in Kenya and Uganda from August 20 to September 20.
Dr. Jeff & Beth Stebbins are with The Navigators and are planning on returning to Vietnam in July, 2011. They will serve as teachers through REI-Vietnam. Jeff says, “In the course of teaching linguistics and English to Vietnamese graduate students, and of leading some of them to faith in Jesus, I am asking God to use me to incline and equip some Vietnamese Christians to take up this crucial, unfinished task.” They are unable to enter the country as missionaries, so they will go as teachers/professors.
Dr. Revtov Nickoly is with EE International as VP director of EE Eurasia. His goals are to train all people’s and age groups to share the Gospel with all unbelievers in Eurasia. He also helps to raise money for the staff of Eurasia.
PCA Mission to North America: to give money to help mission churches which are being started west of the Mississippi.
EE International: the money would go to help different individuals overseas with support as needed.
The Women’s Fall Bible Study will begin the week of September 13, 2010. It will be a 13 week study – Discovering the Rewards of Obedience – covering the books of Ruth, Jonah, and Philemon. The study will be offered at the Ministry Center on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:45 p.m. with Randi Walter teaching, and Friday mornings from 9:30 - 11:15 a.m. with Kirsti Newcombe teaching. “The Truth Project” is offered at the Ministry Center on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m., and is led by Dr. Jerry and Kirsti Newcombe. The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group curriculum, produced by Focus on the Family, and comprised of 12 one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. This home study is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life. Focus believes this one project represents the possibility for exponential change within the body of Christ, as they expect that thousands will be transformed by this curriculum. Please join nearly one million others, who have completed this life changing course.
Nursery Volunteers are needed for the nursery from 10:45 to 12:30 during the Sunday worship services. We are building a schedule where you will take a turn every 8 weeks. Please consider this important ministry working with these young ones. Call 954.946.4380..
The Cancer Support Ministry, has their covered dish dinner on the first Thursday of each month (7 p.m.), and is hosted by Web and Betty Strohmeir. Come share an evening with our group of caring survivors, family and friends. For more information call 954.492.5534.

Wedding and Funeral Services/Receptions Arrangements have been made at the Forum Hotel for weddings and funerals. The forum is a few blocks east of the Ministry Center, and has 9 large rooms available for groups of up to 400 people. For further details ask Jim Carlson.
Tram Service We now have two 8 passenger golf carts operating before and after the morning service. Drivers pick passengers up in the parking lots, taking them to and from the sanctuary. The service is also be available to take people to and from the cafeteria for fellowship time following the worship service.
